Learn to Fly


Achieve your PPL (M) in as little as 30 hours

Learning to fly microlight aeroplanes in Ireland is very straight forward and should not create any difficulties, perceived or otherwise.


The basic requirements to learning to fly and achieve a PPL (M) are as follows:

  • Complete a minimum of 30 hours flight instruction.
  • Hold a JAR class 2 medical, or EASA equivalent.                                                                                                  
  • Complete an English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment.
  • Complete 5 multiple choice theoretical knowledge exams in, Air Law, Human Performance and Limitations, Meteorology, Navigation and Aircraft General Knowledge.
  • Pass a License Skill Test (LST) with a Flight Examiner.


The 30 hour flight training syllabus covers all the general handling skills required including navigation and the correct use of VHF radio.


On successful completion of a skills test, the student will receive a PPL (M).


It should be noted that the 30 hour syllabus is a minimum requirement.

Student progress will depend on an individuals apptitude and various factors.
